Whilst I spend all my weekends and holidays out in nature, I still have to get that outdoors fix in the week, which I get by climbing. So it’s needless to say that I was excited and thrilled when I was approached for a rock climbing shoot to advertise Mammut’s newest alpine clothing range, in partnership with Tiso.

The shoot was based in Glen Clova, in the Caringorms, high up on the eastern side of the valley amongst the tall crags and cliffs. I would be spending the day working alongside Simon Richardson, renowned Scottish and British climber who had scouted the location, Robbie Mackintosh from Tiso, Neil Bradley of Mammut.

We met at 8am and spent the day out climbing and shooting, stopping for lunch high up on the rocks, and not descending again until a little after 4pm. I tried to focus upon capturing the Scottish landscape whilst keeping the climber in focus and positioned well in the shot. Using a mixture of my DSLR and Drone, I was able to capture some interesting angles and compositions that the clients were really pleased with.
