Canopy & Stars
In the extreme cold and snowy landscape of Finnish Lapland accommodation is a hugely necessary part of survival. Whilst the warmth and security are of high importance, there’s no reason that you have to distance and separate yourself from nature. Whilst shooting for Canopy & Stars we stayed in two properties, both unique in their own way but oozing with character and wanderlust. The first a small, minimal cabin built on top of a large sled – each night we were towed by a snowmobile out to the middle of frozen Lake Inari to spend the night in the wild. The second was a geodome nested amongst the trees on the edge of a frozen lake in Torrassieppi – with one side of the dome looking out over the lake and a well stocked wood burner it was the perfect place to spend a couple of nights.
